ABSTRACT

Chapter 2 examines intersectionality as a theory as well as a methodological tool. The relationship among theory, methodology, method, and experience is discussed. Particular methods of analysis of popular culture texts such as content analysis, semiotics, and psychoanalytic theory are explored. The chapter then imagines a hypothetical study to show how the research questions could be answered using different analytic methods, including Intersectional Analysis. The chapter ends with a discussion of the commitments one must adhere to in order to conduct Intersectional Analysis.
