ABSTRACT

The purpose of chapter 3 is to relay the ethical considerations researchers should take before, during, and after conducting an intersectional analysis of a popular culture text. It reviews procedural and on-going ethical issues that should be taken into consideration – including considerations for those doing human subjects research and copyright and fair use laws. The chapter also discusses the politics of representation by addressing the question, “Who can do intersectional research?” and discusses several ethical matters to address when writing up an intersectional analysis.
