ABSTRACT

Analytical Psychology and Archetypal Psychology have as an aspect of importance images and imagery emerging from the Unconscious. These images are significant towards pointing a direction of psychological healing. They were also recognized by first Jung and other Jungian analysts that followed him as being relevant to better understand human unconscious processes. Jungian psychology has always referenced the creative arts and especially film for being the holder of unconscious projections. This chapter discusses the recent film Get Out with a black man as lead character. The racial complex is explored looking to the film’s images, plot and narrative. This film offers an excellent opportunity to see the conscious and unconscious workings of the racial complex within the American institution of cinema.
