ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the racial complex specifically related to the cultural trauma of those who experienced centuries of American slavery. The relationship between the group cultural trauma of slavery and the racial complex of both black and white Americans are explored with a focus on the last affects of trauma that became intergeneration trauma for black Americans. Contemporary Africanist life that includes parenting styles, healthcare issues, death and incarceration rate of African American men, African American education and employment are reviewed looking at cultural trauma and the racial complex.
