ABSTRACT

Resolution is determination and will. Once achieved, it is a breakthrough accomplishment. The resolution to pull the weeds must be made repeatedly, likewise the decision to follow the Relationship Centered Leadership Strategy. The resolution to make relationship primary is made difficult by reorganizations, mergers, downsizing, low pay and layoffs that are perceived as putting profits ahead of people. Many leadership development programs do a good job of creating the opportunity for insight on what needs to change as well as the choices for action and how to develop the plans to actualize the desired change. Resolution is necessary to moving forward in the face of multiple choices, opposing perspectives or conflicting emotions. The leader’s point of resolution may be different from the follower’s. A leader has examined all the options and engaged others with divergent points of view, and then made a choice.
