ABSTRACT

Let’s do an exercise. Make a mark on this page, close this book, and if you have a timer, set it for 5 minutes, then just watch what your mind comes up with as if you’re watching a movie. What was the stuff that your mind came up with during those 5 minutes? When I completed this exercise, my mind came up with thoughts about how much I love cashews, an image of taking the train to San Francisco, a memory of a dinner with a friend, a worry about making sure I’m backing up this writing, and so on.
