ABSTRACT
After Richard had made peace with Bertran de Born and returned to him his castle of Hautefort, he went overseas on a crusade. Bertran stayed behind, at war with Sir Aimar, the viscount of Limoges, and with the count of Périgord and all the other barons of the surrounding areas. And, as you have heard, while Richard was on his way back he was taken prisoner in Germany and he spent two years in prison and won his freedom with ransom money. 1
