ABSTRACT

When peace was established between the King of France and King Richard, there was an exchange made between Alvergne and Quercy, for Alvergne belonged to King Richard and Quercy to the King of France and at the end of the transaction Alvergne belonged to the King of France and Quercy to Sir Richard. Dalfi and his cousin, the Count of Gis, being a lord from Alvergne and a count, were very sad and angry about this for the King of France was too close a neighbor. They also knew that he was stingy and avaricious and had a reputation for being a bad lord. And so he was, for as soon as he took control of that land he bought a fortified castle in Alvergne called Nonette and he took Issoire, a rich town, from Dalfi.
