ABSTRACT

When the good King Anfos de Castela had been defeated by the King of Marroc, whose name was Miramamolin, and this latter had taken over Calatrava and Salvaterra and Castel de Dompnas, there was great mourning and sadness throughout all of Spain on the part of all those good people who heard the news because Christianity had been dishonored and because of the setback entailed by the fact that the good King had been defeated and lost some of his lands. 1 Miramamolin’s people often entered into the good King Anfos’ kingdom to steal and pillage. The good King Anfos sent his messengers to the Pope, asking him to implore the barons from the kingdom of France and the kingdom of England and the King of Aragon and the Count of Toulouse to help them.
