ABSTRACT

Now I am going to tell you -and it’s a rich tale you’re listening to–about what happened to some knights, owners of a rich castle. They were rich in heart and mind, and at arms and in possessions; young and beautiful in body; rich in love, in courting ladies and at all pleasing tasks, skillful at arms and masters at war. More than all the other lovers, they loved two beautiful, noble and learned ladies in true love; and for them they accomplished many agreeable deeds, such as one does for the love of ladies: beautiful courts, beautiful tournaments, rich gifts and beautiful receptions. They made themselves highly esteemed and the news of their noble doings spread near and far. They were more loved by their ladies than any knight who lived at that time.
