ABSTRACT

In many parts of Europe, in some at least of the Dominions and also in certain other parts of the world, agriculture has been over-developed, with consequent deterioration of the land and dislocation of the life of the countries concerned. In Britain, on the other hand, agriculture is under-developed and the natural balance of life, social, economic and also intellectual and spiritual, has been undermined, with pernicious results to our national life. There are many things that will have to be done to restore this balance, but the central problem to-day is to develop agriculture in this country.
