ABSTRACT

The emperor’s gene was behind the wealth of his descendant – this could explain the prevalence of inequality over centuries, a genomic explanation along the lines of the latest work of Carles Lalueza-Fox. The moment one accepts gene-induced inequality as natural and that it must be left unaddressed, it could help rationalize wealth inequality and palaces for the rich and slums for the poor. Proper housing is a basic need. It is a must for accessing proper water and sanitation, which in turn helps in maintaining overall health. Housing helps in promoting the feeling of inclusiveness and fostering talent when high achievers in all fields live along with those who aspire and emulate. The connection between housing and health has been well explored in a special issue of the International Journal of Housing Policy. Guest editors for the issue were Emma Baker and Rebecca Bentley.
