ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on the first 12 years of education, popularly known as school education, which is the foundation for higher education, for equalizing opportunity, and progress over one’s lifespan. School education focuses on and improves the communication and analytical capabilities and injects scientific and innovative zeal. In any country, if every child has free access to the 12 years of excellent primary, secondary, and higher secondary education, that would be equalizing opportunity in the true sense. PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) began in the year 2000. It aims to evaluate education systems worldwide by testing the skills and knowledge of 15-year-old students in participating countries/economies. China and private education, on the face of it, look like an unreal combination. An amendment to the regulation on the law promoting private education has come into force on September 1, 2021.
