ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we describe background information to provide context for this book, including an overview of the language and terminology used in the book, a discussion of the theoretical framework and methodological grounding of the work, and our researcher positionality statements. Specifically, we highlight the power-conscious framework as a guiding theoretical framework for the study and examine critical narrative inquiry as the methodology. We detail our personal journeys to the work of researching student activism and describe the student and educator participants in the study.
