ABSTRACT

Data appreciation is the understanding that data and the use of data in the analysis of various types as well as the results of these analyses are important in our everyday lives. Data appreciation is necessary for all people, regardless of whether they work directly with data or not. Data awareness is essential for data analysts, but it is also important for a whole range of people playing different roles – especially in healthcare. A society will take its attitudes about data appreciation, awareness, and use from its leaders, so their data-based activity is critically important. Organizations of all kinds have culture. Much of the work on culture in healthcare organization recently has been focused on fostering a “culture of patient safety”. In addition, the culture of the organization was very insular and personal. Managers had their “territory” and did not want to see changes that would affect how they ran their groups.
