ABSTRACT

This chapter draws on specific case studies which illustrate the impact of attending Work Group Supervision and the desire and motivation of the participants to challenge themselves as they begin to enjoy their work. It uses the participants' own words to convey how the Work Group Supervision attended to learning and development needs of all group members, encouraging individuals to get over personal difficulties and provide support for one another. The chapter outlines how pedagogy plays out in practice using Work Group Supervision as an intervention, addressing each stage of the process in order to focus on improvement. To understand the value of the Work Group Supervision, one needs to examine how the Early Years educators interacted as a group, whether as part of their individual presentation, or working in pairs or as part of a smaller group. Motivation is a key factor in group supervision, where Early Years educators present their observations based on their level of understanding.
