ABSTRACT

In this chapter, and the following one, the author pursues a contemporary reflection on the primordial tools used by the human being to develop and protect himself against anxiety related to the unknown, dependence and solitude, elements that are inherent to the human condition. Concerning as much the object as the ego, the functioning of splitting is considered here not only in its normal form but also in its pathological form imposed from the outside, thereby constituting a trauma.
