ABSTRACT

Focusing on the UNESCO global development goals for education this chapter advocates an atomic leadership approach that favours taking small steps towards stimulating improvements in education outcomes. The intention is to share good practice in terms of educational initiatives with the aim that leaders learn from one another. Among the projects mentioned are those that focus on partnership working, those that involved small changes that support disaffected learners and leadership approaches which take account of staff needs when working with multiple pressures. Reference is made to the London Challenge project which still, many years after the initiative, is impacting on London schools. This project has been identified as the key driver promoting educational change in the English school system with many of its ideas and expectations cascading outside London and across the English school system.
