ABSTRACT

Global disasters occurring today in a world characterised by volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA) require educational leaders to be open to change and prepared to adapt their approaches to teaching and learning. This chapter explores the use of technology to support student learning and identifies how leaders need to be inspirational and visionary in seeing the myriad of opportunities that technology has to offer. Based on the ideas presented in the Open University Innovations Report for 2020 a range of technological innovations are explored. A research project which asked learners what they wanted from their technological learning experience reveals how important it is for leadership teams to take account of learner views.
