ABSTRACT
This short chapter brings the text to a close. It offers a reflection on the issues facing leaders today and identifies some of the challenges ahead. It brings together a number of themes presented in the various chapters and closes with a call for a reassessment of schooling, requesting reduced learner testing and a revitalisation of an education endeavour which gives children space and time to develop a love for learning. The role of schooling in protecting the young and offering them hope in uncertain times is emphasised in a call for a pedagogy of hope which offers stability and protects future generations from successive and excessive challenge and change.
