ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the Columbus Centre’s works are discussed with respect to historiographical debates about comparison in the context of totalitarianism, Holocaust uniqueness, and colonialism. After presenting Astor’s anti-colonial and anti-apartheid stance in The Observer, it moves on to discuss the works of anti-apartheid activist Albie Sachs on the legal system in South Africa, social psychologist Rae Sherwood on race relations in modern-day Britain, psychologist Nevitt Sanford on race in the United States, and, last but not least, Roma scholars and activists Donald Kenrick and Grattan Puxon on the history of the Roma people.
