[290/1] While awaiting replies to the dispatches from Faisso several of us went ashore in order to refresh ourselves in a crystalline stream of fresh water, which fell over a rock into a pleasant valley covered with leafy and shady trees, whose thick foliage served to form a green canopy over the many-coloured carpets which spread along its sides, the work of industrious Nature's hand.
