ABSTRACT

This chapter examines how the notion of modelization is a technique that transmits a hegemonic gaze in the production of subjectivities. Mediated through iconographic conventions of selfie making promoted in the advice literature the ways modelization happens, and how subjects encounter and navigate the inherent pressures and coercive effects of the hegemonic gaze, including disinvesting or contesting pre-established way of looking and interacting online.
