ABSTRACT
This chapter builds on previous threads in the book to bring together some of the elements of the digital ecologies impacting participants and the vectors of subjectivity production in play. While algorithms were not something we had attended to with respect to the study when we began, we realized over time that individuals were thinking about and responding to algorithms explicitly and testing out their ideas with each other in a number of ways both discursively and non-discursively. Here, we mobilize relevant concepts from the scholarly literature addressing algorithms to think through sociality in this context.
