ABSTRACT
Japan’s environmental problems are integrally linked with its economic growth. Economic developments of the 1950s determined the nature of the severe pollution problems that faced Japan in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Similarly, present changes in Japan’s economic structure will affect the future state of its environment.
