ABSTRACT

Boyd Rice was an industrial musician who has been dogged by accusations of neo-Nazism for decades. In 1986, Rice, already interested in both Charles Manson and Adolf Hitler, visited Manson in prison for a brief period of time. At the same time, he wrote James Mason and in turn introduced him to publisher Adam Parfrey and future Siege editor Michael Moynihan. Rice, Parfrey, and Moynihan—along with Satanist Nikolas Schreck—comprised a pseudo-think tank, the Abraxas Foundation, which promoted a misanthropic, hierarchical Social Darwinism. Rice remained in contact with Mason until 2003. Rice also went on White Supremacist Tom Metzger’s TV show Race and Reason, became close to Anton LaVey and joined the Church of Satan, and befriended Bob Heick, the leader of the first national Nazi skinhead gang, the American Front. The two were photographed together in the group’s uniform for Sassy magazine—something which would haunt Rice for the rest of his career, making it impossible for him to deny a direct connection with neo-Nazi circles.
