ABSTRACT

The last chapter presents a summary of all the previous elements and connects and explains the different reactions based on the motivations and conditions of the time. The issues that are discussed include the legacy of the millet system, the question of antisemitism and the priority of interests of the Greek elites. The chapter concludes with a short discussion of the aftermath of the Holocaust in Thessaloniki, the status of the Jewish community today and issues that are still pending from this dark period.
