ABSTRACT
In this chapter, racial inequality in the criminal justice system is explored, including racial profiling, police brutality, the death penalty, and the juvenile justice system. The reasons for the emergence of mass incarceration and its racialized nature is then investigated, including the effects of mass incarceration on minority communities. In this new edition, a discussion of current attempts at criminal justice reform is included.
