ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces sociological predictions concerning the future of race, based on the foundational assumption that if race is a social construction, it changes across time and, thus, the way we currently understand race is not likely to be how it will look in the future. A shift to the ways race plays out in the political sphere is introduced next. An exploration of the racialization of immigrants, historically and currently, and the extent of hate crimes and hate group activity follows. Finally, we conclude with a discussion of the history and current status of the reparations movement.
