ABSTRACT

The introduction provides a chronological view, divided into five periods, of the Theresienstadt testimonies given by Danish survivors. One part is dedicated to considerations of the personal testimonies as historical source and related problems, like inaccurate sources or fake texts. Another part includes a historiographic outline regarding the Danes in Theresienstadt, with a two-fold perspective: scholarship focussing on the Danish administration in Copenhagen and their relief work for the deportees, and scholarship embracing the point of view of the deportees.
