ABSTRACT

Beginning with a brief overview of the political situation in Denmark and the situation and composition of the Jewish community at the time of the German occupation in April 1940, this chapter includes findings about Jews arrested before the Judenaktion who were later deported. A number of them were taken as hostages on August 29, 1943 and interned in Camp Horserød; others were arrested during the last days of September 1943. The case of a Danish boy deported from Berlin to Theresienstadt is also outlined.
