ABSTRACT

Computer-mediated communication (CMC) can be broken down into key concepts: identity presentation, interaction and social presence and virtual communities within online sites. TikTok is one of the fastest-growing tools for obtaining reach and engagement. However, hoaxes and catfishing continue to present challenges for all social networks. Internet history suggests that media richness may reduce user uncertainty. Social network analysis identifies clustered group discussions on specific topics. Top influencers may be sharing sticky content, memes, links to popular sites or other engaging communication. We can visualize social network interaction. The spread, or diffusion, of new ideas helps explain uses of a gratification from social posts within a context of culture and power.
