ABSTRACT

Landform analysis is fundamental in engaging industry standard practices regarding stormwater management and ecological function. This chapter will present the automation of traditional calculations such as the rational method, slope percentage, slope direction, and solar metrics. These equations and concepts will be automated through algorithmic scripting and paired with Rhino geometry, resulting in both numeric and spatial outputs. Combining these tutorials with rapid landform prototyping (as presented in the previous chapter) will allow for accurate assessments of performative landscape schemes. This chapter seeks to expedite traditional calculations and provide a toolset for addressing system dynamics and pragmatic design considerations.
