ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of the whole book. It gives the reader a basic understanding on the context and genesis of this book. It describes the nature and impacts of climate change across the world and the inevitable role of social workers in facilitating ethical adaptation decisions and actions at the community level. Rooted in action research, it is envisaged that the adaptive innovation model described in this book could enable us practitioners to facilitate the designing and implementation of people-centred adaptation projects. It also provides a self-reflective account on how diverse perspectives along with grassroot-level experiences have shaped the idea of adaptive innovation.
