ABSTRACT

Data becomes meaningful only after analysis has confirmed that a set of relationships can be used to improve decision making or to evaluate theories. When hypotheses are tested, they are either accepted or rejected, based on the level of statistical significance and an assessment of whether the results are meaningful within the context of the research. To test hypotheses, the appropriate statistical method must be selected. The selection of a method is based on the number of variables, the type of measurement and scaling, data collection approaches, and sample characteristics. Simple statistical tests include Chi Square, t tests, and correlation. Advanced statistical tests include analysis of variance (ANOVA), multiple analysis of variance (MANOVA), and multiple regression.
