ABSTRACT

The type of relationship being tested must be considered in selecting the method of statistical analysis. Correlation and regression are two major approaches to analyzing relationships between variables. Both approaches can be applied with two variables, referred to as bivariate analysis, or with three or more variables, referred to as multivariate analysis. Multiple regression examines relationships between a single-metric dependent variable and multiple-metric independent variables. Special situations are multicollinearity, dummy variables, and control variables.
