ABSTRACT

The research proposal, report, and presentation provide the means for the researcher to communicate the purpose, methodology, results, and implications of the research. Proposals contain an introduction, a list of the research questions, a description of the research methods, a proposed outline of the final research report, and a description of the time and financial resources required to complete the research project. Executive summaries precede the body of a research report. Given that the executive summary is often the only part of the report read in detail, great attention must be paid to making sure it communicates effectively. As in the written report, effective communication in an oral presentation is essential. Suggestions for increasing the effectiveness of oral presentations include using visual aids, inviting audience participation, and being creative in developing effective presentation titles and content.
