ABSTRACT

The simultaneous emphasis on Big Data and forms of immersive representation (360-degree cameras, virtual reality, and augmented reality) is no accident. Frameless forms of representation seek to capture the world from a non-subjective view in order to redouble reality in its entirety. The development of increasingly comprehensive and ubiquitous forms of data collection has the same goal. Indeed, frameless forms of representation replicate the goal of data collection without limits. In this regard, the fascination with immersive forms of representation might be described as the cultural logic of the Big Data era.
