ABSTRACT

Neuroscience tells us that there are few structural differences between individuals’ brains. However, it is experience that ‘wires’ the brain and generates connections between its constituent parts. Hence the considerable differences between human beings and the wide range of contrasting reactions to identical situations. This chapter vindicates previous chapters in that it shows why we are able to learn new skills, such as empathic influencing. By changing our experiences we can effectively rewire our brains. In particular, if we can adopt a ‘growth mindset’ focused on learning, self-improvement and success, we can all become authentic leaders. The chapter explains how to develop such a mindset and reengineer our own brain cells.
