ABSTRACT

The enormity of certain problems demands it; economies of scale may require it. Recognize how others have paved the way, and build on what they have done. Being catalytic also means thinking about scale all the time, especially ahead of time. A simple application of this philosophy is in procuring systems. Likewise, there is a strong current among social enterprises to grow bigger, to scale. Mark Hecker’s ambitions run against the grain, especially with funders who seek scale. The biggest challenge for us currently is funding. The author think that, specifically, funders are most interested in hearing about organizations.
