ABSTRACT
Chapter 8 is the concluding chapter. After presenting a complete model of prosodic hierarchy in the Fuzhou dialect, I summarize the formation of each major prosodic domain and the rule application within different domains in this dialect. The main discoveries and conclusions drawn in this book regarding the prosodic phonology theory are also discussed in this chapter, with special attention paid to theoretical issues such as the weakened SLH, the status of the clitic group, the approaches to phonological phrasing, and the “no look-back” device DIC. I outline the tasks for future research at the end of this chapter.
