ABSTRACT
Chapter 7 considers parental attempts to secure innovative or experimental treatment for their children. This issue brings to the fore the interests balanced in the provision of medical treatment of children. Those include the best interests of the child, parents as consumers of information concerned with securing the best possible treatment for their child, professional duties to children in their care, the public interest in the well-being of children, and differential approaches to the care of adults and of children.
