ABSTRACT
Chapter 9 examines a number of theories used to look at different aspects of ethnic conflict. We examine ethnic conflicts with various levels of violence, including the phenomenon of genocide. These include conflicts in Nigeria, Bosnia, Guatemala, Iraq, Syria, Rwanda, Darfur and Myanmar, as well as the Holocaust. In addition, we explore the political psychology of bystanders and altruists.
