ABSTRACT
The modern ontological topos (MOT) is not limited to the subject alone. The emergence of the modern subject has at its exact counterpart, the modern object, also firmly planted in its MOT. The one does not go without the other, as both are MOTs. The world considered by the MOT is the product of such disconnection. It is like capitalism which counts time and space as discrete units, e.g., the square meter and “time is money”. If the lack-of-being of the MOT forces it to consume more and more objects, it is not only because it unconsciously aspires to find again the medial body it foreclosed; it is because it fetishizes those objects. The focus on the object puts an end to the deployment of being – the movement whereby being, by ek-sisting, escapes from the shackles of physical identity.
