ABSTRACT

This chapter tells how a leadership of integrity is passed on, person to person, though personal influence and creative connections. The chapter illustrates this through telling case stories of participants in a series of global business forums on “trust and integrity in the global economy”, held at the Initiatives of Change centre in Switzerland for 10 years. Participants included Kofi Annan, the late Secretary General of the United Nations, who told about his influence on the pharmaceutical industry; Lawrence Bloom from the board of Intercontinental Hotels who helped to change the environmental impact of the global hotel industry; Rohan Narse, a former Goldman Sachs trader who resigned to become a Mindfulness practitioner in the City of London; and Anita Hoffmann, founding CEO of Executiva, executive search company, and author of the book Purpose and Impact. The author concludes by saying that “justice in economic relationships and structures, and human wellbeing, are built on human relationships, person by person.” This can also lead to profound changes of direction in life.
