ABSTRACT
The final chapter of the book addresses the afterlife of the Spanish Civil War: the ways in which the conflict was memorialized, transformed into heritage, appropriated and disowned in battles of memory and counter-memory that continue to our days. It looks into monuments, memorials, museums, grassroots practices (from exhumations to metal detectorists) and institutional initiatives, both during the dictatorship and in contemporary times.
