ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we will study the most commonly made inaccurate word choices and linguistic criteria to help us in making the correct choices. An inaccurate word choice refers to commonly made mistakes in choosing the correct words to use in writing. We will review the categories of words that are most commonly confused to understand why we make such choices. Then we will learn a descriptive linguistics approach that will empower us in making accurate word choices.
