ABSTRACT
Chapter 3, entitled ‘Procedural justice’, presents the theoretical framework supporting this research. It explores the concept of the vengeful victim and defines procedural justice theory as the view that fair processes leading to decisions generally have greater significance for victims than do substantive case outcomes. Chapter 3 explains how the following four key elements are crucial to meeting sexual assault victims’ procedural justice needs: information, validation, voice and control.
