ABSTRACT
Many medieval works purport to recount part of Charles’ life. The Charlemagne of legend, like King Arthur, sometimes plays a minimal role in works associated with his name. This section contains a composite fictional “biography” of Charles for which the order is based on hints about time sequence given by the poems themselves (presence or absence of characters, battles mentioned, etc.).
