ABSTRACT

On closing this study of concentrated bodily transformation, the conclusion offers transformance as an appeal for repair. It highlights the theater practitioners’ concurrent engagement with the aesthetics of ethics and the ethics of aesthetics when creating theater in a (post)colonial and postmartial context. To further formulate the concept of transformance, the chapter identifies potential directions in which such conceptual framework may be further studied qualitatively and quantitatively beyond the privacy of the rehearsal space. In addition, beyond the context of Taiwan, the chapter suggests the potential of transformance in advancing the formulation of “Asia as a method” and studies on minor transnationalism, mobility, and trauma.
